Timeless Twine Day

Hello Friends!

I have a fun and quick card over at Timeless Twine! I love stitching on my cards and thought the Strawberry Truffle would be perfect for a love card.

I marked the center of the card using my T-square ruler and then drew a grid. I didn't want the grid to be perfectly even so I hand drew the lines but using the T-square so at least the lines were straight. Then you just poke holes at the ends of all the lines and where the lines cross and stitch away! Easy!

Stop by the Timeless Twine blog for another twine tip!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a twinetastic day!

Card Share for Clean & Simple Class

Hello Friends!

I'm caught up on my homework for the Online Card Class, Clean & Simple 2! If you've never taken these classes, I highly recommend them. Value and quality-it's amazing!

I put day one on Flickr because I already had a blog post for yesterday. Just in case you didn't see it over there:

These backgrounds were a TON of fun to make. I used 3 colors of Distress Inks, lots of water and ClearSnap smooches spray (the spray just on this "hello" card).

Day 2:

I need more practice with this technique. I should have used more water over my water color pencils. Love this technique, I'll be using it again!

And day 3:

Technically this card above is NOT the technique we learned. I still need some practice with the blending part and the solid image stamp isn't the best choice for this technique. But hey! I made a card so win-win!

I used Hero Arts Shadow Inks in Pool, Green Hills and Soft Pool and tried to get a gradient look. Needs practice but tons of fun! And yes, I backed myself into a "no room for a sentiment" corner. I'll put something on the inside!

Thanks for stopping by! Tomorrow I have a fun Valentine's Day card using Timeless Twine! And remember, Friday, February 8th is a special celebration with a HUGE giveaway! Stay tuned!

Happy Mail for Grayson Card Drive

Hello Friends!

**I have a special post today. You know I LOVE making cards for kiddos who need some cheering up!**

Just before Thanksgiving, Danielle from Neat and Tangled, heard news that a girl she went to high school with and her family had embarked on an incredibly difficult journey. They had discovered that their sweet little 2 year old boy, Grayson, had a tumor on his brain stem. Since then they have been on a roller coaster ride, and this is only part of the journey.  Grayson will begin chemotherapy this month as the next stage of treatment. Through all of this, the family has stayed strong, hopeful, faithful and positive.  And Grayson is a strong and spunky fighter :) Grayson's mom, Jackie, has a blog she keeps updated regularly, so you can get to know more about Grayson HERE.

Danielle wants to just light up Grayson's life with some serious happy mail!  She talked to Jackie, and she informed her that Grayson and his brother love to get mail...and so, here we have the Happy Mail for Grayson Card Drive.

Grayson is super lucky to have a big brother, Aydan, who is 4 so make sure to send some awesome cards to him too! These boys love all things boy :) Rescue Bots, Geotracks, Angry Birds, Thomas the Train. Send these little men funny, happy, cards! We all know how much love goes into a handmade card, and even better how personalized they can be!"

Here is the important info:

The drive will run from January 21 - February 28
(If they arrive late because they are International that's okay too!)

Send them here:
Grayson Savery and/or Aydan Savery
c/o Danielle Walls
P.O. Box 5808
Wilmington, DE 19808

Thanks for stopping by and reading about Grayson! Feel free to spread the word!

I tried to make an equal amount of masculine and feminine cards. Here's my sampling.

Love Notes for Lawnscaping

Hello Friends!

I have a lovey dovey project for today featured on the Lawnscaping blog! I introduced the reasoning behind the project over there and I thought I'd jump right into the "how"!

*Measure all sides of the box
*Ink all edges of the box
*Cut papers (I used "Eva" from Basic Grey here)
*Adhere paper with Mod Podge (or other super durable adhesive)
*Stamp sentiment, cut out, adhere
*Embellish!

*Tip: I can't measure and cut correctly to save my life. So, I got as close as a could but on the too big side. Then I marked with a pencil/eyeballed to get the perfect size. I would hold the "almost fits" piece of paper to one side of the box and just decide how much more paper to trim. It works for me!

*Tip: I wrote the measurements on the box itself since I was covering it all up, the pencil marks didn't matter.

*Tip: The reason I inked all the edges is because of tip #1. The inking helps hide imperfections. And the box corners were a little rounded so I knew the paper needed to be cut a little short.

*Tip: run the ribbon through a Xyron sticker maker for all over adhesive coverage!

Have you heard? Lawn Fawn is coming out with dies to match some stamp sets! Quinn's ABC's is one of those dies! Whoot!! Fussy cutting letters no more! Simon Says Stamp is having some select new Lawn Fawn products available for pre-order. Double whoot!!

Everyone could use a love note box, right? Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great week!

Timeless Twine New Release!

Hello Friends!

Today is a special post for Timeless Twine! These are my first projects since joining the DT as a Twine-ista! AND Timeless Twine is releasing two new colors! Cape Cod and Graphite Grey! AND, AND we're celebrating with a blog hop! Whoot! Glad you came by!

PRIZES!!! Comment along the way and one lucky winner will win an entire spool of BOTH new colors! Whoot! You have until January 14th to comment!

You should have arrived her from my name partner, Melisa (yes, spelled differently)!

I used Graphite Grey for the hills and Cape Code on the button and banner. I pulled the yellow out of Cape Cod for the cross-stitching :)

I covered some Maya Road tin holder thing-a-ma-jig's with both colors. Pulled out the Glubers to adhere (thanks, Amy!).
Those are wood buttons you can find in the Bella Creationz shop (same place you buy the Timeless Twine!)

Alright! Off you go to Mandi!

Have a great weekend!

Someone Special

Hello Friends!

I wanted to show you one of my favorite Christmas cards I recieved this year. It's from the daughter of a new friend I've made! And the ways we meet one another continue to amaze me.

You need the background story. So, you remember my 32 days of Crafty Christmas Celebration? Well, one of my crafty friends, Laura Jane told me that her family hand makes almost 100 cards to send out! The whole family sits down and crafts! All the kids help. Love that!

Well, she was sweet enough to send me a little slide show of the fun. And I happened to comment on a card because I loved the way Meghan (one of her kiddos who happens to be 15 and happens to LOVE this Lawn Fawn set) put the shadow under the dragon because I'm particularly dense when it comes to shadowing.

And guess what??

she sent it to me! Whoot! I was grinning ear to ear! So sweet and I love it! I asked Laura if I could put this on my blog and her and Meghan said it would be ok!

I just wanted to share a warm fuzzy story :)

It's Raining Birthday Cake!!

I have more birthday cards! Crazy, I know!

When I sit down with an Operation Write Home Sketch (OWH) and new goodies, I tend to just go for it! I've indicated on the picture what OWH sketch I've used (if any). The papers are from October Afternoon, Cakewalk (that my super sweet friend, Jen sent me!).

I'll make other notes under each card. *a surprise at the end if you make it*

 Flower from May Arts
Sticker letters from Webster's Pages (that super sweet Leslie sent me!)
Liquid Pearls!

Lawn Fawn stamp (Year One, I think!)
Timeless Twine Strawberry Shortcake

 Timeless Twine Strawberry Shortcake
Sticker letters from Webster's Pages

I thought I'd show you the inside of the card for the card right above this photo. I decorate the inside of cards especially when the card base is dark. For OWH, I just line the inside, no space is waster with extra decoration.

Well? Now you want cake, right? Haha! This paper was so much fun!

*It's almost time for a HUGE giveaway! I've been collected goodies for a long time and I thought as soon as I reach 100 followers, I'd celebrate in style!* Stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by!
