Just Saying Hello

So, what have you been up to? Me, well, you know, same old, same old. Oh, wait, just kidding! I do have some news!

I'm on the Design Team for A Blog Named Hero! Whaaa? You read that right! I'm going to have SO SO much fun! The DT is amazing! You'll love all the talent and inspiration too!

Here's my card to say "hello" to all our friends!

The card came together quickly! I used Hero Arts Exotic Bloom and Distress Markers to ink the stamp, sprayed some water and stamped! Repeat! Stamp the Hero Arts Message sentiment in Hero Arts Chalk Ink-Latte, cut and adhere with pop dots! And some distress ink on the edges and pearls! Done!

Our fantastic sponsor for the challenges will be Simon Says Stamp! Amazing customer service and TONS of product!

Hey Girl

Have you ever started a card, then like 2 hours later, you can't see your desk and you're not really sure how to get the idea you drew from the sketch into an actual card? This was that card :)

A window card. Of course my mind wants to come up with something super creative. But, let's face it, it's a window. Just make a card and have fun :)

I made a grid 3 x 3 and drew 1" circles then either punched them or used my circle cutter. For the frame, I punched a 1" circle then punched a 1 1/4" circle around the 1" circle to get the 1/4" frame. I colored the white 1/4" frame with Faded Jeans Distress Marker.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sending You Smiles

You know I love a sketch challenge! And combine that with a flower challenge? Wham, my perfect world!

LOVE my new coloring attitude! I had a breakthrough this past week and had SO much fun coloring this HA flower, Striped Flower. I used re-inkers, markers, colored pencils and I'm going to try about 3 other techniques soon too! For this flower, I just used re-inkers and my water color brush. It's embossed with clear sparkle but you can't really see that part.

This flower is colored with Faded Jeans. I can't remember what color I used on the center but I ended up covering it with Perfect Pearls. Paper by American Crafts, Sketchbook.

Love Life

Today I have a fun card using American Crafts 6x6 paper pad designed by Amy Tan called "Sketchbook". It happened to be the perfect colors for the current Lily Pad Cards challenge, Kathy's Pad Palette! I also used the sketch from I Spy Sketches for that current challenge!

How cool are those papers! LOVE! And I promise you, that ribbon is the same color as the pink paper! If I knew what I was doing in the photography department, maybe I could actually fix it :) For now, you'll just have to trust me!

For Laurel

Hey Chica's!

My crafty blogoshere friend, Laurel Beard, made this killer YouTube video with a ton of techniques using the Distress Ink Markers.

I think why this video in particular really sunk in (because let's face it, we watch a lot of crafty videos!) is because of what she said in the video. She's water coloring the images and says there's no right or wrong way to do it. Do it however your personal style is. Coloring is freeing. And I actually paused the video and wrote that down.

Ok, why so dramatic? Because I've been trying in vain to color-all kinds-water coloring, pencils, markers-and I've always given up.

Then I go down the list of what to change: different paper, different water color brushes, different color medium, different stamps. I've stamped out entire sheets of images and played. And I never seem to "get it". The ladies who color and make videos always seem to have a blended and beautiful image. So, I was discouraged, big time. Like, pulling my hair out discouraged. I've spent so much money on coloring mediums, just hoping I find the one that works for me.

But you know what's really cool about this crafting community? We rock! We're here for each other, we inspire each other and sometimes, just at the perfect moment, you get an "ah-ha" moment and it clicks!

So, Laurel, thanks for my "ah-ha" moment. You've saved my hair! I'm just going to enjoy it. I'm not going to worry about it. I love coloring when I'm not worried about photographing it and blogging it, so I'm just going to go with it! I crown you my crafty hero!

That's all, no projects, no pictures. Just a crafty girl sharing an "ah-ha" moment! HERE is Laurel's video on YouTube.

A Blog Named Hero

Hello, hello!

There's a new challenge blog in town! It's called A Blog Named Hero and the ladies who run it are so talented and stinkin' hilarious too!

I used the stamp & die cut set Flowers & Butterflies. The layout is from the Hero Arts sketch from the current Hero Arts challenge (which I'll be entering this card into as well!).

And yes, you're correct, there's no sentiment? Here's why: I totally forgot to add one! Truth! I'll add one on the inside and call it good! Now it's an "all occasion" card! Haha!

So Happy

For the Lily Pad Cards' Birthday Blog Hop, please click HERE!

I put this card on Flickr but I'm just so dang proud of it, I wanted to make sure to do a blog post too! I've entered it into the I Spy Sketch Challenge. Sketch by Emily Keaton.

I was just itching to play with sticky back canvas and Mr. Huey's mists! I started out with a different card but felt it went in a different direction (although I salvaged it & love it! Just wasn't this sketch anymore).

So I took strips of sticky back and really sprayed them with Heirloom Blue, Plum Thumb and Estate Green. Frayed the edges, lined them up and BAM bold color and lots of texture!

And since I used canvas I really wanted the rest of the card to have a natural feel so I went with natural trimmings from Lawn Fawn, Rustic Cream CS from PTI and left it pretty simple.

The last pic is what I did to the inside of the card. I used LF set, Grand Greetings (apparently my new current fav!).

Thanks so much for stopping by!
